How to Create a LinkedIn Business Page
“My personal LinkedIn page is good enough to showcase my online business, right?”
Wrong!
While your personal LinkedIn page is a great place to showcase your own resume and abilities, there are better ways to use the platform to truly showcase your online business that you’ve worked so hard on building! The best way to do this is by creating a LinkedIn Business Page. A business page offers plenty of opportunities to optimize your page and business for searchability.
In this post, we’ll break down each tab of a Business Page to make your build quick, easy, and effective.
How to Create a LinkedIn Business Page
The Tabs
Page Info
This section is super straightforward! You’ll need:
- A logo (square version)
- Company name
- The “public” URL
- Your tagline
Custom Button
The custom button allows you to grab people’s attention and get them interacting on your page. Here, you have a few different “calls to action” to choose from:
- Contact
- Learn More
- Register
- Visit Website
- Custom URL
“Contact” and “Visit Website” are the two most common page buttons but it could be fun to experiment with Register/sign up to get visitors to attend a webinar or other conversion event!
Overview
This section starts with your description. The description is similar to the “About” section on your personal profile or services page but should be focused on the company itself. You have 2000 characters for this section, but try to keep it short and sweet so that people actually read it. You can use the content on the page to expand upon your description.
Here, you also have the opportunity to add:
- Your website URL
- Industry
- Company Size/Type
- Phone Number
- Year Founded and
- Specialties
For specialties, you can actually type whatever you want. Remember that you still want to use terms that people will search for, so be specific.
Extras
Finally we have the extras:
- Location
- Hashtags
- Featured Groups and
- Languages
If you are an in-person business with multiple locations, the LinkedIn company page gives you the opportunity to feature them separately.
You can choose up to 3 hashtags to feature on your profile, and you can get notifications of trending posts in those hashtags to engage with as your company.
Featured groups are great if you use LinkedIn groups but don’t worry about this if you’re just getting started.
If you are bilingual or serve clients in a number of countries, you have the option to create multiple language versions of your company page which is awesome and so inclusive!
If you are or have aspirations to be a larger company that isn’t so directly tied with *you* the business owner, starting a business/company page is probably a good idea. If you start working on a business page and think you’d be better off starting small, check out our recent post about creating a LinkedIn Services page.
