With much of the business world making a shift to the digital space, it is becoming increasingly important for small businesses to make sure their presence is known on the vast landscape that is the internet. Finding the time and funds to successfully build an online presence can be daunting, but thanks to LinkedIn it doesn’t have to be. That’s why we are here to teach you how to build your LinkedIn services page.
A newer addition to the platform, creating a services page on LinkedIn is a simple and easy way to position yourself as a service provider for free!
In this post, we’ll break down each section of the services page and what you should include to make your setup quick and painless.
How to Build Your LinkedIn Services Page
What’s Included?
The services page includes:
- An “About” section (separate from your profile)
- Location
- Availability (one on one and/or remotely)
- Your Services
About the “About” Section
The about section of the services page is the perfect place for you to tell your network what you’re all “about,” but make it short and sweet. With just 500 characters you’ll want to make sure you’re highlighting your services, since we are on a service centered page of your profile. Where the about section on your profile is more of an overview of who you are and what you do, the about section of your services page should be geared specifically towards your services and how they help your ideal clients.
Location & Availability
Location and availability are the two sections of your page that will really work hand in hand. These are mainly used by people searching for the services you provide in your area. Even if you are working remotely some people just feel better working with local service providers. Whether you choose to be available in person or not is totally up to you, but it can be helpful in the times we’re in to offer both remote and in-person availability or simply accept in-person requests on a case by case basis.
Services
Finally, the whole purpose of this page, the services. You’re able to list up to 10 services that you provide. Here’s the twist- they have to be chosen from a list provided on LinkedIn. While this is good for searchability purposes, it’s a missed opportunity to be able to highlight specific packages or nuanced offerings.
Hint: When you’re selecting your services, think about different phrases your ideal client might use to search for what you do and pick service options that make sense to you based on that.
